At a glance

  • Methods: X-ray and gamma ray [Ir-192, Se-75 / confirm]
  • Used on: pipelines, plant piping, vessels, tanks, castings

  • Personnel: [ISO 9712 Level II / III]
  • Records: [film / digital] radiographs and signed report
Overview

See inside the weld, with a permanent record

Radiography passes X-rays or gamma rays through a weld or component onto film or a digital detector. Internal flaws show up as changes in density, giving a permanent image that your client, authority or third-party inspector can review.

We provide RT for [oil and gas, pipeline, power, marine and fabrication] projects in Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia and Rwanda.

Methods

Our radiography methods

X-ray radiography

Controllable source that switches off at the end of the exposure. Suited to [thin to medium] sections and workshop or fabrication yard work.

Gamma ray radiography

Portable isotope sources [Ir-192, Se-75] for field and pipeline work where power or space is limited, including panoramic exposures on pipe circumferences.

Digital / computed radiography

[Reusable imaging plates or detectors for faster results and electronic storage. Confirm what you offer.]

What we inspect

Applications

  • Pipeline girth welds
  • Plant and process piping
  • Pressure vessels and boilers
  • Storage tank shell and bottom welds
  • Structural steel welds
  • Castings and forgings
What RT detects

Typical findings

  • Porosity and gas pockets
  • Slag and tungsten inclusions
  • Incomplete penetration and root defects
  • Burn-through and excess penetration
  • Cracks, when aligned with the beam
  • Voids and shrinkage in castings
How it works

Our radiography process

1

Plan

Review drawings, weld list, thickness, access and code requirements.

2

Secure

Set up the controlled area, barriers and warning signs with your safety team.

3

Expose

Position source and film or detector, with image quality indicators.

4

Interpret

Radiographs are evaluated against the code acceptance criteria.

5

Report

Signed report with accept/reject results and weld map.

Radiation safety

Safe, controlled and compliant

Radiography is only done under strict control. Our procedures protect your people and the public.

  • Controlled area with barriers, signs and a safe distance set by survey
  • Calibrated survey meters and personal dosimeters
  • Source handling by [trained, certified] radiographers
  • Work and sources licensed by [Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission / confirm]
  • Coordination with your permit-to-work system

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is radiography safe?

Yes, when it is controlled. We set up a controlled area, use survey meters and dosimeters, and follow [TAEC] regulations and your site safety rules.

Can radiography find every defect?

RT is very good at porosity, slag and incomplete penetration. Tight cracks and lack of fusion can be missed if they are not aligned with the beam, so we can combine RT with UT or phased array.

How long does a job take?

[It depends on the number of welds, thickness and access. We give a time estimate with the quote.]

Do you provide film or digital results?

[Confirm: film, computed radiography or both.]

Which countries do you cover?

[Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia and Rwanda.]

Need radiography testing?

Tell us the project, number of welds, thickness and code. We will reply with a quote and schedule.
